Vertigo attacks can be scary, with their unpredictable nature as well as the sudden sensation that the world is rapidly spinning around you. You may even experience symptoms of nausea, headaches, vomiting or ringing in the ears. A vertigo attack can last as short as a few minutes and up to several hours.
There are a several explanations for vertigo that are rooted in either an issue inside of the inner ear or a problem with how the brain and spinal cord are communicating information regarding the body's sense of balance and where it is situated in space. The balance system is a complex one, heavily relying upon the exchange of accurate input to the brain, gathered from the inner ear, the eyes, and the limbs.
