Meet our team – NUCCA chiropractors in Vancouver, WA
Dr. Joseph Perin, DC graduated Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College in Hayward, California after completing his undergraduate studies in Spokane, Washington.
At the age of 11, Dr. Perin decided he wanted to become a Chiropractor, after receiving beneficial care from a local Doctor to correct his mild Scoliosis symptoms. After graduating from high school, he married the love of his life, started his family, and began actively pursuing his dream. In 2006, he moved his family of 4 to begin his education at LCCW. While in his first quarters of education, he was introduced to the NUCCA technique by a classmate and close friend, and felt that given it’s highly researched background and documented results, it was the technique that would best allow him to restore the body’s balance, alleviate pain, and optimize health.
While serving his clinic internship in the Life West Health Center, Dr. Perin was fortunate to care for the majority of his patients using the NUCCA technique. He witnessed the results firsthand, and became a believer in it’s effectiveness. While in the Bay Area, he was fortunate to serve and learn under the direction of NUCCA practitioner Dr. Michael Zabelin, and served as an intern in the office of Dr. Pete Tsiglieris, gaining valuable practice knowledge and experience. He regularly attends NUCCA seminars to help further advance his understanding of Upper Cervical care and continues to be mentored under NUCCA practitioners Dr. Albert Berti, Dr. Robert Brooks, Dr. Russell Friedman, and Dr. Robert Goodman, who provide advanced guidance in the field of NUCCA.
Dr. Perin relocated his wife, Amanda, and their 3 small children to beautiful Vancouver, Washington after chiropractic school. He is happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest, and is excited to positively affect the lives of those he works with. His passion and desire to bring wellness into his community drives him to be highly involved in creating wellness initiatives that will affect the lives of many.
Dr. Vanessa Wulff is passionate about helping others regain their independence in health through natural and non-invasive care. As a student at Life West she was fortunate enough to learn about and experience various chiropractic techniques, including NUCCA. Under NUCCA care Dr. Wulff found a level of health she never thought possible; including freedom from chronic migraines and inner ear issues. In 2012 she graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward California. She received the clinical excellence award for her class, by demonstrating outstanding patient care; and received the clinical honors award. As a student Dr. Wulff was vice-president of the NUCCA club and continues to be active in the community.
Dr. Wulff grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and has been practicing NUCCA care there for the past 6 years. Looking for a better quality of life and a close knit community, Dr. Wulff and her family relocated to the Portland area in July of 2018. Dr. Wulff is excited to serve the community of the Pacific Northwest with NUCCA care. She and her family look forward to exploring the many beautiful places of their new home and being a part of such a beautiful and friendly community.
Chiropractic changed her life. Here is her story:
I was working as a wedding cake decorator when I began to experience increasingly worsening back pain; the pains were easy to control at first but over the course of a few months grew to the point that I could not sit for more than half an hour without extreme discomfort. This impacted my life very much, I could no longer enjoy things I loved like movies and dinner dates with my new boyfriend, or making the hour drive to see my grandparents.
I went to see my doctor and, at the age of 19, was offered a prescription for pain medication and the promise of future back surgery. A co-worker suggested I see a chiropractor, after the first visit I felt full of hope that I could finally find some relief without drugs. By the end of the first month I felt better and healthier than ever, I was able to enjoy the things I used to. I was very happy with my care and planned on continuing care and cake baking forever.
Then one afternoon right before my appointment I could feel a migraine headache coming on. I’d had these most of my life, my first at age 5 and almost once a month since age 12. They were debilitating; my only solution was to go straight home, take medication and lay very still in a cold dark room for the rest of the day. Since I was almost to the chiropractor’s office and I knew my back always felt better after an adjustment I decided to keep my appointment. As I lay on the table the doctor adjusted my upper neck, and to my surprise, for the first time in my life I could feel my headache disappearing. I got up off of the table and in that moment decided that I wanted to be a chiropractor.
The empowerment of optimal health without the reliance on drugs has changed my life, I am so much happier and can now go anywhere and do anything without fear of pain or sickness, I can make the trip to my grandparents’ house, and beyond. I married that boyfriend and we are both so happy together and so happy to be healthy and active together.
Being able to help others find the true joy in a life free of pain, sickness and drugs is the best gift I could ever receive and every day I am so happy to be able to be a part of helping people on their journey to health. NUCCA has helped me realize my full health potential by correcting and stabilizing my spine in a way that no other chiropractic technique has.
Jaemie Fairbanks, LMT, BCTMB Jaemie is a massage therapist with an extra edge. She carries a board certification in therapeutic massage and bodywork (BCTMB) and has over a decade of experience in California and Oregon. She uses a combination of trigger point therapy and deep tissue techniques to maximize the release of muscle spasms and the pain that goes with them.
After experiencing multiple neck injuries in early adulthood, Jaemie found that massage therapy focused on trigger points made the biggest difference in her recovery. That sparked a desire to change her career path and attend the Professional Therapeutic and Sports Massage program at the Western Institute of Neuromuscular Therapy in Laguna Hills, California.
Jaemie is excited to bring her massage therapy techniques to Balanced Living Chiropractic because she has also been a NUCCA patient for many years. She understands what the muscles of the body do when out of alignment and she looks forward to helping everyone maintain balance with the addition of therapeutic massage.
