what-you-need-to-know-about-cervical-vertigo

Upper cervical care in Vancouver, WA offers relief to patients suffering from vertigo attacks. Vertigo is quite a complicated symptom and there is more to learn about its causes. We're going to introduce you to a type of vertigo that you’ve probably not heard before. It’s called cervical vertigo or cervicogenic dizziness.

When your Environment Does Not Spin

Cervical vertigo is non-rotary dizziness that makes a person unsteady due to sporadic movements of the neck. It changes the person's perceived position due to the uncontrollable repositioning of the neck. The strange thing about this type of vertigo is that there is no spinning sensation associated with it at all. In other words, people who suffer from cervical vertigo will have to look for other signs of this condition.

Cervical Vertigo and Your Spine

Whiplash, cervical spondylosis (wear and tear in the upper cervical spine due to age), neck and head trauma or injury can be the cause of cervical vertigo. But according to a popular theory, the underlying reason for cervical vertigo is a dysfunction in the deep muscular proprioceptors (the sensors that provide information and signals about the limbs, joints, and muscles) in the upper cervical spine.

When this dysfunction happens because of a misalignment in the upper neck vertebrae, it obstructs the vestibular nuclei from accepting the proper information via the brainstem. An obstruction in this area causes a malfunction to occur. That obstructed path can be clear and restored through a procedure called upper cervical chiropractic. To get this delicate and complex procedure appropriately done, you will need to entrust your care to an upper cervical chiropractor.

Here at Balanced Living located in Vancouver, WA, our upper cervical chiropractors will take care of you. We will do a routine check-up of your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments that may be the core cause of your cervical vertigo. Once we find any misalignments, we will make the required adjustments done to your upper cervical area.
